 XXXTips & Tricks for Better Performance

PolyCrystal Isolation Platforms are designed to isolate key components, particularly amplifiers and their transformers, from other sensitive components in your audio/video system.

Undoubtedly, the sound presentation of your music system will be improved by placing your power amplifier on a PolyCrystal rack. However, the greatest and most noticeable improvements will be realized by placing your amp on the PolyCrystal isolation platform, a massive 1-1/2" thick slab cast in PolyCrystal material.

In the April 2001 issue of The Stereo Time, Marshall Nack writes:

"It was immediately apparent that the soundstage character had changed. It became HUGE... the 3-D effect going back from the speaker plane was stunningly layered and airy. The space between instruments and the air around them was more completely realized.

Moreover, this spaciousness arrived in tandem with an equally remarkable enhanced instrumental richness and fullness: not overly warm and swampy with a loss of detail, but harmonically and acoustically rich, with gobs of information.
"

Stereophile's Jonathan Scull had similar praise while summarizing his review of a pair of $27,500 VTL Wotan MB-1250 Monoblock amplifiers in the June 1998 issue of Stereophile:

"In fact, the only tweak that really worked, and one that I recommend to all VTL owners (and to all tube-amp owners, for that matter), was popping them onto PolyCrystal amp stands. This paid immediate dividends by tightening up the entire sonic presentation and keeping the awesome bass range tighter and deeper ‘en hell. The PolyCrystals also raised the already wonderful imaging a notch further toward ultimate palpability, all the while enhancing air, transparency, and focus." [Emphasis is the author's.]

Scull is in a position to know, having used PolyCrystal components numerous times while testing of speakers, amplifiers and other electronic componentry.

PolyCrystal isolation platforms are available in a variety of sizes. However, because more PolyCrystal resin dampens better than less, the greatest performance gains will be achieved by using the largest platform, regardless of the size of your amp.

• The platform is created from PolyCrystal UHD resin material cast in a massive 1-1/2" thick slab for the ultimate in resonance damping.
• Five platform sizes are available:
· PIP1 - 21" x 17" ( 53cm x 43cm, 37 lbs);
· PIP2 - 21" x 28" ( 53cm x 71cm, 60 lbs);
· PIP3 - 14.5" x 26" ( 37cm x 66cm, 37 lbs);
· PIP4 - 14" x 14" ( 35.5cm x 35.5cm, 20 lbs);
· PIP5 - 21" x 21" ( 53cm x 53cm, 45 lbs);
· PIP6 - 13" x 10" ( 33cm x 25.4cm, 15 lbs).
• Platform support is provided by PolyCrystal-coated brass speaker spikes to further dampen the component from unwanted resonance.
