 XXXTips & Tricks for Better Performance

PolyCrystal isolators are unparalleled in their ability to reduce the negative effects of resonance-induced coloration. They are ideally suited for use under all audio and video electronics, and power conditioning units.

In his review of PolyCrystal isolators in the April 1998 issue of Stereophile, Jonathan Scull wrote:

"No question: These are the sweetest cones I’ve ever heard, hands down... Sweet remains sweet. My jaws are officially agape at the beauty of it all...

"The midrange? Velvety, sultry, textured like I’ve never heard before, drawing me in with that special harmonic rightness that makes an audiophile kvell. The juicy acoustic hit my resonance point, and I fell directly into the music. The midrange on [Madeleine Peyroux’s] Dreamland is gushing with texture and detail, I love it...

"The clarity and richness of sound is, I believe, due to the absence of resonance-induced coloration. Whatever, it was sexy and engaging—it made me feel young again.” [Italicized emphasis is the author’s.]

Since this review was written, Scull has continued to use PolyCrystal racks, amp stands, isolators, spikes and cable towers to audition and review equipment—as do many other audio experts such as Chip Stern, Wayne Donnelly and Larry Kay.

Scull’s experience with the PolyCrystal Isolators is hardly unique; in the April 2001 issue of The Stereo Times, Marshall Nack reported that the Isolators "sounded great: a darker, fuller overall sound with smoother and more prominent bass... the result is tighter, more focused images".

PolyCrystal customer Stefan Lindstrom of Sweden agrees:

"I got my Isolators on Monday, and what a positive experience!!! I put them under my Krell KSA 50s pointing down to my (Symposium) Svelte shelf (I'm sorry, but I bought it before I knew about PC! )---and what a change in sound! EVERYTHING gets better!!! I love them!!! Thanks for a fantastic product."

Note that PolyCrystal isolators are specifically designed for the resonance characteristics of electronics chassis, not for speakers; for speaker spikes, see our "Speaker Spikes" page.

The Isolator is created from PolyCrystal UHD material for the ultimate in resonance damping.
Two sizes are available:
· ISO-3 - 1-1/4" in diameter by 1" high, for excellent isolation;
· Reference ISO-3 - 1-1/2" in diameter by 1-3/8" high, for twice the isolation and improvement in sound of the standard ISO-3.
